The THREAD of 2026: why “LINK” will guide my year as an abstract artist

As this new year begins, I wanted to share something more meaningful than a list of resolutions:
the intentions that will guide my work as an artist in 2026.

I am a visual artist and abstract painter. I create contemporary abstract paintings, often using pigments, sewn cotton canvas, ink, and oil pastel. I also paint large-scale murals and develop series of works that you can discover – and collect – directly here on my website.

Every year, instead of resolutions, I choose one word. A word that quietly influences my creative choices, my projects, and the way I show up in my practice.

This year, that word is: LINK – or, in French, LIEN.

OSER, JOIE, LIEN: how one word shaped each year

Over the past few years, a single word has helped me navigate my path as an artist:

  • In 2023, my word was OSER (DARE).
    Daring to take on larger formats.
    Daring to accept mural projects.
    Daring to show my work more, to say yes to new spaces and new audiences.

  • In 2024, my word was JOIE (JOY).
    Joy in the studio.
    Joy in exhibiting.
    Joy in seeing my abstract paintings leave the studio and start a new life in someone’s home or workspace.

Those words were not just poetic intentions. They genuinely changed the way I worked, the opportunities I welcomed, and the way my abstract art developed.

Now, as 2026 begins, a new word has stepped forward: LINK.

What does “LINK” mean in my art practice?

When I say LINK, I mean much more than connection in the digital sense.

I’m talking about:

  • link as relationship – personal and professional;

  • link as connection, as weaving, as thread;

  • link as bridge, as exchange, as proximity, as complicity;

  • link as network, as circle, as living fabric.

A sometimes invisible thread, but one you can feel.

A thread that links us to one another –
and that also links spaces, artworks, and stories.

In my abstract painting practice, this LINK is already there:

  • in the seams of the canvas I sew together;

  • in the layers of pigments that overlap and respond to one another;

  • in the way a mural enters into dialogue with a room, a hallway, a lobby;

  • in the way an art workshop in a company opens a different kind of conversation between colleagues.

From that single word, several strong professional intentions emerge for 2026.

Intention 1: creating murals that weave links with spaces and people

One of my greatest artistic joys in recent years has been painting custom murals.

In 2026, I want to continue to create murals that weave links with spaces and the people who inhabit them.

I paint murals in:

  • private homes and apartments,

  • offices and coworking spaces,

  • boutiques and showrooms,

  • spas, restaurants, and hotels.

Each mural is a unique piece, designed for a specific place. It’s not just “decoration”. It’s:

  • a presence in the room,

  • a way of transforming a wall into an inner landscape,

  • a daily encounter with colour, texture, and abstraction.

I always start from the architecture, the light, the atmosphere of the space – but also from what you want to feel there: calm, energy, softness, grounding, openness…

If you have a wall that feels strangely empty, or a space that “wants something” without you knowing what, that might be the beginning of a mural.

And if you’d like to get a sense of my visual language first, you can explore the abstract paintings available for purchase in my online gallery. They carry the same love of colour, material, and subtle emotion.

Intention 2: growing my presence in Geneva and Dubai

Another clear intention for 2026 is to develop my presence internationally, particularly in Geneva and Dubai.

I wish to collaborate with a gallery partner in each of these cities, to bring my abstract work into international art scenes that resonate with my universe.

Why Geneva and Dubai?

Because both cities are:

  • open to contemporary art,

  • home to collectors and art lovers looking for original abstract paintings,

  • places where art naturally enters homes, offices, and public spaces.

My goal is to work with galleries and spaces that are aligned with what I do:
a sensitive, poetic, tactile abstract art, where sewn canvas, pigments, and fragments of memory all play a role.

If you are based in Geneva or Dubai and work with galleries, art spaces, or collectors – or if you simply feel my work could resonate in your network – I would be very happy to connect.

Intention 3: letting life and creation speak to each other

This year will also be marked by something very special on a personal level:
the arrival of baby number 3.

My rhythm will naturally shift. On the surface, my activity might appear slower – but I don’t see this as a pause in my artistic work. Quite the opposite: I see it as a different kind of time.

I want to let life and creation speak to each other.

I’ll be dedicating this new rhythm to developing a new series of abstract works, which I plan to unveil in spring 2026.

This series will most likely be infused with:

  • cycles and transitions,

  • thresholds and edges,

  • fragments of memory,

  • and all the subtle links between inner life and material.

This slower period will be one of research, observation, and maturation. I’ll share glimpses of this new body of work over time – on my website and through my mailing list and social channels.

Intention 4: co-creating with brands that see art as a partner

I truly believe that art can be a meaningful partner for brands – if it is approached with respect, sincerity, and a long-term vision.

In 2026, I want to co-create with brands that see art as a language, not just a communication tool.

These collaborations can take many forms:

  • murals in brand spaces,

  • limited editions of artworks or art objects,

  • immersive experiences for launches or special events,

  • artistic interventions for more intimate gatherings.

What matters to me is that my artistic universe nourishes the brand’s identity –
and that together we create spaces of LINK:

  • between aesthetics and meaning,

  • between story and experience,

  • between the brand and the people it speaks to.

If you work within a brand or a house that wishes to integrate contemporary art in an authentic way, I would be delighted to imagine a bespoke project together.

Intention 5: creating spaces of link inside companies

Another dimension that has become essential in my practice:
the art workshops I lead within companies.

These workshops are not just “creative activities”.
They are designed as spaces of link.

Link to oneself, first.
Through gestures, colours, and material, participants step out of emails, meetings, and roles. They reconnect with another dimension of themselves: more sensory, more intuitive.

Link to others, too.
Colleagues see each other differently. They share an experience where it’s not about performance or being “good at drawing”, but about exploring, trying, laughing, sometimes being moved.

These workshops fit beautifully into:

  • employee well-being days,

  • team-building or off-site events,

  • internal days focused on creativity, culture, or transitions.

In 2026, I want to continue creating these spaces of link in companies, by designing artistic workshops tailored to each team and context.

If you are responsible for HR, internal communications, people & culture, or if you help design such internal events, I’d be very happy to talk about a format that would make sense for your teams.

How we can work together in 2026

If any of these intentions speaks to you – as an individual, a company, a brand, or a gallery – then there is probably something we can create together.

You can:

  • collect my work by exploring the abstract paintings available for sale on my website,

  • contact me about a custom mural for your home, workspace, or boutique,

  • reach out about a brand collaboration or an art workshop in your company.

For any project or inquiry, you can email me at:
julia@juliaetedi.com

In 2026, LINK will truly be at the heart of my work:
link between you and the artworks,
link between spaces and colours,
link between stories, materials, and shared experiences.

Thank you for being here, and for being part of this thread that keeps growing, year after year.
